Hey guys Madison here,
As we all know, fall is no longer right around the corner, its HERE! In real estate, fall and winter are usually the slower seasons out of the year to sell your property, but it can still be done. Even though the inventory is typically lower, people still buy and sell for a various amount of reasons; so lets talk about how to get rid of the lackluster front yard and spruce up your curb appeal for your listings to keep your property warm and inviting to buyers!
- Starting with the house itself, before the temperature drops too low, you can always pressure wash the exterior of your home, driveway, and any sidewalks leading up to your home to rinse all of that spring and summer pollen off and leave everything looking sparkly and clean!
- Mow your lawn one last time to keep those pesky weeds or long sprouts of grass to a minimum so it all looks freshly manicured.
- If you have trees or bushes/shrubs make sure to trim the long or low hanging branches to keep them looking full and lushious instead of unkept and scraggly. Also, make sure to keep your leaves raked and bagged up so the small debris isn't cluttering your lawn.
- Now onto the fall decor! Try not to go overboard with the Halloween decorations this year if your plan is to sell, this might make some people look over your homes actual appearance due to the array of different eerie blowups, crime scenes, and giant skeletons.
- Instead, look into incorporating minimal fall decor that enhances the curb appeal. For example; add a few vibrant mums and seasonal flowers like asters and pansies along your sidewalk or steps, strategically place an arrangement of a few pumpkins and gourds on your porch atop a straw bale, place a stylish wreath on your front door, and even take note of your porch lighting during this time. Soft oranges and yellows help enhance your homes glow during the fall season when the sun goes down versus bright whites and flourescents. All of these steps help create that warm and inviting atmosphere when entering your home.
All in all, it's the small things all together that increase your curb appeal. Having a beautifully decorated porch but a patchy lawn will not slide. Lets stay focused on the basics first and the decoration laters. A clean and neat front yard will always look expensive and inviting.
